Cultural services

Cultural services are the intangible pleasures that people derive from ecosystems through mental enrichment, cognitive development, recreation and aesthetic experience. Green space has an important value for people: people can enjoy the view, they can recreate in it, people link their identity (sense of place) to a landscape and relax. In addition, people also attach value to green space because it safeguards open space and natural values for themselves and for others, for future generations and because it provides a habitat for various plant and animal species (non-use value).

All cultural services can be valued jointly through stated preferences or separately service by service in accordance with the provisioning and regulating services.
